About Menomonie Outdoors

Tall tale fishing stories told here — There’s always a fish. Not just big—different. And every once in a while, someone walks in with proof—a cooler, a photo, or a fish big enough that the whole shop gathers around. Like the angler who hauled a giant northern pike into a bait shop just to get it measured, turning a tough day into a story everyone else got to share

The waters of the Dunn County area —centered around Lake Menomin, Tainter Lake, the Red Cedar River, and the Chippewa River—offer a unique blend of rich history and diverse fishing opportunities that define the outdoor culture of west-central Wisconsin.

These waters are all interconnected. The Red Cedar River flows south through a chain of reservoirs—Tainter Lake and Lake Menomin—before joining the Chippewa River, creating a continuous fishery shaped by both natural forces and human development.

Menomonie Outdoors helps anglers, hunters and outdoorsman get all the gear they need to experience these waterways and land.
